Anos Voldigoad

Anos Voldigoad is the reincarnation of the Demon King who ended the ancient war by sacrificing himself — and who returns two thousand years later to find that history has been rewritten, his name erased, and the world he gave everything for has forgotten him entirely.

Background

In the ancient world, Anos was the Demon King of Tyranny — an entity powerful enough to end a conflict between humans, demons, spirits, and gods by constructing the barrier Demionbel, which separated the races at the cost of his own continued existence. He agreed to reincarnate 2000 years later into a world he hoped would be more peaceful. What he finds instead is a demon society that has fabricated a different Demon King in his place, rewritten the history he authored, and labelled anyone who claims the real name a "misfit." Anos responds to this development with the complete calm of someone who knows exactly what he is and has no interest in negotiating his identity with people who are incorrect. He enrolls in the Demon King Academy, which exists to find his reincarnation but cannot recognise it.

Personality

Supremely confident without being arrogant — Anos knows what he is with total accuracy and finds no need to perform it. He treats obstacles as mildly interesting and genuine opposition as a rare pleasure. His warmth is reserved for his parents, his followers, and anyone who demonstrates authentic courage in front of him. He is not cruel; he is simply operating from a frame of reference where almost nothing constitutes a real threat, which requires him to find meaning in things other than danger.

• Misha Necron — the first person at the Academy to treat him with ordinary courtesy; she becomes one of his most important relationships precisely because she approached him without agenda
• Sasha Necron — Misha's sister, whose hostility toward Anos gradually shifts as she understands who she is actually dealing with

Anos is the Misfit of Demon King Academy's deconstruction of the overpowered protagonist genre: rather than discovering power gradually, he arrives fully formed and uses the narrative's energy on the question of what it means to exist in a world that has forgotten you. His arc is about reclaiming a history that belongs to him — not with resentment, but with the serene certainty of someone who knows the truth does not require anyone's permission to be true.
