Erza Scarlet

Erza Scarlet is Fairy Tail's Titania — S-class wizard, indomitable spirit, and a woman who built herself into a legend from the wreckage of a childhood no one should have survived.

Background

Erza was enslaved as a child at the Tower of Heaven, a massive construction project run by a dark cult in service of an ancient demon's resurrection. She was imprisoned alongside other children, including a boy named Jellal Fernandes, and subjected to brutal labour and worse. She taught herself magic in captivity, eventually leading a failed escape attempt that cost her her right eye and resulted in Jellal being taken and corrupted. She eventually escaped and joined Fairy Tail, where she replaced her lost eye with a prosthetic, mastered her Requip magic, and became the guild's single most formidable fighter.

Personality

Erza is formal, exacting, and quick to demand discipline from those around her — the guild clears out whenever she approaches a problem seriously. That sternness is entirely genuine and also coexists with deep sentimentality: she cries easily at stories of courage or sacrifice, loves strawberry cake with uncomplicated devotion, and would die for any member of her guild without a second thought.

• Natsu Dragneel — a fellow guild cornerstone and close friend; Erza is one of the few people Natsu genuinely respects as stronger than himself.
