Feitan Portor is the Phantom Troupe's most immediately lethal close-range fighter — silent, blindingly swift, and possessed of an ability that makes him genuinely more dangerous the more severely he is wounded.
Background
Little is confirmed about Feitan's origins. He holds the troupe's number 2 position and was among its founding members. During the Yorknew City arc he served as torturer; when Chrollo's nen was sealed and the troupe needed an acting leader, Feitan stepped in. His defining moment as a fighter came against Zazan in Meteor City, where he was forced to reveal an ability he prefers never to expose.

Personality
Feitan communicates minimally and expresses preference through action. He is not cruel for the pleasure of it — he treats efficiency as the only relevant metric in any interaction and acts accordingly. His loyalty to the troupe is genuine in the same unsentimental way that everything about him is genuine.
Relationships
- Chrollo Lucilfer — the troupe's leader, to whom Feitan defers completely when present; the one whose absence most visibly changes the troupe's dynamic
- Hisoka Morow — the troupe's most volatile element; their coexistence is functional rather than warm and neither appears to expect more than that
Role in the Story
Feitan represents what the Phantom Troupe actually is beneath its mythology — capable of staggering violence, bound by a code that looks nothing like conventional morality, and dangerous at a level most antagonists in the series cannot genuinely match. His pain-scaling ability is the series' most structurally interesting inversion: harm him and you have made him worse.
