Hina Chouno

Hina Chouno is Blue Box's gravitational centre — a badminton prodigy whose quiet presence and genuine kindness give Taiki Inomaki something to reach toward, and who gradually discovers that she has been reaching toward him in return.

Background

A second-year student at Eimei Junior and Senior High School and a member of the school's elite women's badminton team, Hina was already established as a national-level talent before the series begins. Her skill and composure on the court give her a quality that could easily read as distance — she is measured, disciplined, and not given to casual emotional disclosure — but the series takes care to show the person beneath the athletic identity. The complication arrives when her father begins dating Taiki's mother, making them cohabitants in the same house. The situation forces a proximity neither of them chose, and out of that proximity grows first friendship, then something harder to name.
