from Kaiju No. 8Popular character
Kafka Hibino is the protagonist of Kaiju No. 8 — a 32-year-old kaiju-clean-up worker who gains the power to transform into a kaiju himself, and finally chases the dream he had nearly given up.
As a boy, Kafka promised his friend Mina Ashiro they would join the Defense Force together. While she rose to become a celebrated captain, Kafka ended up cleaning up kaiju corpses — until a strange creature entered his body and gave him monstrous power, designated "Kaiju No. 8."
| Ability | What it does |
|---|---|
| Kaiju transformation | Becomes a powerful humanoid kaiju with enormous strength |
| Superhuman combat | Speed, durability and raw power rivaling elite officers |
| Human intellect | Retains his mind and tactics while transformed |
Kind, self-deprecating and quietly determined, Kafka refuses to let age or setbacks kill his dream. His maturity and heart set him apart from the usual young protagonist.
As both a Defense Force recruit and the secret Kaiju No. 8, Kafka lives a dangerous double life at the centre of the series' conflict between humans and kaiju.
