Rudeus Greyrat

Rudeus Greyrat is the rare isekai protagonist who begins with a second chance and actually uses it — reborn into a world of magic with his adult failures intact, and determined to make something different of both.

Background

Reincarnated as the son of the knight Paul Greyrat and the healer Zenith, Rudeus retained the memories of a life wasted in social withdrawal and self-pity. He resolved to live differently — a resolution he immediately acts on by beginning magical study at age three. His tutor Roxy Migurdia trains him through the fundamental schools of magic; he masters each in a fraction of the expected time. The Mana Disaster, a catastrophic teleportation event, scatters his family across the world when he is eleven, and the vast majority of the story follows his journey to reunite them — crossing continents, cultures, and the limits of his own character in the process.

Rudeus carries the weight of his previous life in ways the story does not let him escape. His growth is real but unsteady — he can be considerate and perceptive, and he can also freeze completely when panic overtakes him.
