Ryuunosuke Tanaka is Karasuno's loudest and most aggressively loyal wing spiker — the one most likely to sprint into traffic for a teammate and the one least likely to ever admit he finds anything difficult.

Background

A second-year when the series begins, Tanaka established himself as the team's emotional enforcement mechanism — the one who shouts encouragement and threatens opponents in roughly equal measure. His spiking is reliable and technically sound, but what he contributes to Karasuno is primarily atmospheric: the team's emotional temperature changes when Tanaka decides it should.

Tanaka represents the spine of any functional team — the people who are not the best player on the court but who make it possible for the best players to function.
