Connie Springer

Connie Springer is one of Attack on Titan's most human characters — the soldier whose story carries the series' most quietly devastating emotional weight, because the thing that comes for him is his own mother.

Background

Connie ranked eighth in the 104th Cadet Corps — not a top graduate, but a genuine product of the training. He is from Ragako village, a detail that becomes one of the series' most calculated gut-punches: when the Titans appear inside the walls after the breach of Shiganshina, Ragako is one of the first villages attacked — and every villager was transformed into a Titan. Connie's mother became the round, barely-mobile Titan that greeted him when he returned to the village. The Titan was in his house. The series gives him a moment with it that he does not fully understand at the time and does not recover from easily. That backstory shapes his arc through the war, where the question of restoring the villagers' humanity becomes one of the personal stakes he carries into impossible choices.
