Illyasviel von Einzbern is Kiritsugu Emiya's daughter, raised by the Einzbern family as both a homunculus and the Holy Grail's designated vessel — a girl with a shortened lifespan, an inherited grievance against her father, and a Berserker-class Servant who is the strongest figure in the Fifth War.

Background

Illya was born as a product of Einzbern engineering — the family spent generations attempting to build the perfect Grail vessel, and she is the result. She grew up in the Einzbern castle in Germany, learning that her father Kiritsugu abandoned both her and her mother to return to Japan, and absorbing the family's bitterness about this as her own. By the time the Fifth Holy Grail War begins, she has been trained as a Master and arrives with Berserker — Heracles — as her Servant, wielding one of the most overwhelming force combinations the War has produced. Her childlike presentation coexists with genuine power and a lifespan that the Einzbern have always known would be short.
