Jinbe

Jinbe is the fishman karate master who becomes the Straw Hat Pirates' helmsman — a warrior defined by his unshakeable code of loyalty and the bridge he forms between the human and fishman worlds.

Background

Jinbe's story traces a long arc from the Sun Pirates — the crew he eventually captained after Fisher Tiger — through the Shichibukai system he joined to protect his people, to the Marineford War where he fought for Whitebeard, and finally to his formal place alongside Sanji, Nami, Robin, and Usopp in the crew. He held Luffy together physically and emotionally after Marineford — one of the most important acts of support in the series — and when he finally accepted Luffy's invitation to join, it felt inevitable. He spent years declining the offer out of obligation and principle, which is exactly the kind of loyalty that makes his eventual yes so meaningful.

His fishman heritage shapes his worldview: he has seen both what hatred between species does and what solidarity between them can build.
