Background

Juvia grew up ostracized because the rain cloud that permanently hovered over her dampened everything around her — the result of her emotions manifesting in her magic before she had any control over it. She found a home in Phantom Lord's elite Element 4, where her water-body constitution made her functionally indestructible in battle. The guild war against Fairy Tail changed everything: her encounter with Gray Fullbuster, who caused the rain to stop for the first time in her life, triggered an immediate and absolute devotion that she pursued with complete sincerity regardless of whether it was reciprocated. She joined Fairy Tail, rebuilt her life there, and eventually integrated herself so fully that her loyalty became one of the guild's genuine pillars rather than a running joke.
