Light Yagami is the protagonist and antagonist of Death Note — a brilliant student who finds a notebook that kills, and sets out to remake the world as its god.

Background

A gifted, top-of-his-class student bored by a rotten world, Light discovers the Death Note dropped by the Shinigami Ryuk. With the power to kill anyone whose name he writes, he adopts the alias "Kira" and begins executing criminals to build his utopia.
