Ryuk

Ryuk is the Shinigami whose boredom sets Death Note in motion — a god of death who drops his notebook into the human world simply to be entertained.

Background

Tired of the dull Shinigami realm, Ryuk deliberately let his Death Note fall to Earth, then attached himself to whoever picked it up — Light Yagami — purely to watch the chaos unfold.
