He is the First Class Fire Soldier of Special Fire Force Company 8, the unit that operates independently of the Church of the Holy Sol's institutional influence — a distinction that matters because most of the other Companies exist within a structure whose integrity Company 8 was formed partly to investigate. He is former military — Japanese Imperial Army — and brings to Company 8 the bearing and the standards of that background, which means the training regimen, the expectation of professionalism, and the specific way of relating to his subordinates that forms there. His Ignition Ability is Second Generation: he does not generate fire himself but can manipulate the fire properties of the bullets he fires, controlling their velocity, trajectory, and behavior after they leave the barrel.
