Mob Psycho 100

If you have ever wondered what Mob Psycho 100 is about, the short answer is that it follows an ordinary-looking middle schooler who happens to be hiding extraordinary power. Shigeo "Mob" Kageyama is a quiet, socially awkward eighth-grader and one of the strongest espers alive, yet he wants nothing more than to be normal, make friends, and impress his crush. To keep his overwhelming psychic ability in check, he works part-time exorcising spirits for Arataka Reigen, a fast-talking con man who runs a "Spirits and Such" consultation office and has no real powers of his own. It is a setup that sounds like a superhero story but plays out as something far stranger and more heartfelt.

What makes the show stand out is how boldly it looks and how deeply it feels. Adapted by studio Bones from the webcomic by ONE (the creator of One-Punch Man), the 2016 series turns its animation into pure expression: sketchy, elastic, paint-splattered sequences that erupt whenever Mob's emotions climb toward 100 percent. Beneath the spectacle sits a surprisingly gentle message: raw power means nothing without character, and growing up is about kindness, effort, and honesty rather than being special. Rivals like Teruki Hanazawa and companions like the mischievous spirit Dimple exist to test that idea, not simply to fuel fights. That blend of jaw-dropping action, offbeat comedy, and real emotional weight is exactly why fans rate it so highly.

So is Mob Psycho 100 worth watching? For most viewers, absolutely. The first season runs a tight 12 episodes, making it easy to binge in a weekend, and it holds an 84 out of 100 on AniList, a score that reflects how consistently it lands with audiences. Expect a supernatural action-comedy that never takes itself too seriously yet sneaks up on you emotionally, carried by some of the most inventive animation on television. It is a great pick for newcomers who want something short, funny, and visually unforgettable, as well as longtime fans hungry for a series with genuine heart.
