Every Attack on Titan power ranking hits the same wall: a man with two blades can strip a seventeen metre shifter to the bone here, and the largest Titan on the field is usually not the one who wins. So we ranked on canon feats, kill records and matchups. Ten names, judged through to the ending.

How we ranked this

Three tests, in order. Ceiling: the biggest thing the character actually does on the page or on screen. Record: who they beat, who beat them, and whether a loss was a bad matchup or a bad fighter. Counterplay: a power with an obvious weak point is worth less than one without. That last test is why the War Hammer Titan sits below Reiner despite owning the better arsenal, and why a scientist with no Titan makes the list at all. 1. Eren Yeager: the Founding Titan, and nothing else is close

Eren ends the story holding three of the Nine Titans: the Attack Titan from Grisha, the War Hammer Titan he prised out of Lara Tybur's crystal in Liberio, and the Founding Titan that makes the other two ornamental. With Zeke's royal blood completing the circuit he reached the millions of Wall Titans that Karl Fritz had sealed inside Paradis, and walked them off the island. Roughly 80 per cent of the world's population was dead before the Rumbling stopped. Note the trade-off: his final body is a vast, barely mobile skeletal frame with Eren lashed into a spine inside its mouth, which is precisely where he was reachable. 2. Ymir Fritz: the power everyone else is borrowing

On output she is second; on ownership, first. Every hardened plate, every Titan scream, every mindless Pure Titan is assembled by Ymir inside the Paths, where she spent two thousand years building bodies on command for whoever held the Founder. She ranks second only because she never acted for herself until the end, and the instant she was released Titan power left the world completely. 3. Zeke Yeager: the scariest support ability in the series

The Beast Titan is no brawler. Third place comes from royal blood plus a scream: every Subject of Ymir in earshot becomes a Pure Titan, which is how Ragako village and Connie's mother were erased, and how the Survey Corps officers who had unknowingly drunk his spinal fluid in wine transformed in the forest. A former pitcher's arm lets him pick scouts off horseback at ranges nothing on the field can answer. Close combat is the hole: Levi took him apart once and had him bound and helpless later. After Armin talked him round in the Paths, Zeke walked up to Levi in human form and offered his neck, which broke the royal blood link and brought the Wall Titans to a halt.

4. Levi Ackerman: the best fighter in the series, Titan or not

Humanity's strongest soldier is an in-universe title and the fights earn it. In episode 54, "Hero", Levi strips the Beast Titan like a mechanic: a spiralling cut that shreds one arm, then the eyes, the legs, the remaining arm, then he rips Zeke out of the nape, and only the Cart Titan arriving to snatch Zeke away saves him. He led the squad that trapped the Female Titan, and later had Zeke bound and beaten in a carriage until Zeke detonated the thunder spear strapped to him, nearly killing them both. Levi still takes his head in the closing episodes. His real edge is judgement at speed, spending gas on the single cut that ends it.

5. Mikasa Ackerman: the cleanest record of any human

Officers rated a teenage Mikasa as easily worth a hundred soldiers, which sounds like recruitment talk until you total what she finishes. She sheared the Female Titan's fingers off as it scaled Wall Sheena. She put eight explosive rods through the War Hammer Titan's nape at the moment Lara Tybur had Eren's neck open. And she reaches into the Founding Titan's mouth to take Eren's head, then buries it in Shiganshina under their tree. She sits one place below Levi on volume of elite shifter fights, not on talent.

6. Reiner Braun: armour first, and he outlasted almost everyone

Reiner inherited the Armored Titan at ten. The plating turns aside blades and cannon fire, and it is what smashes Shiganshina's inner gate and opens the road to Wall Rose. On top of Wall Rose he grapples Eren to a standstill and escapes with him, though Eren came within seconds of taking his nape; at Shiganshina, with hardening of his own, Eren beats him outright. The weakness is real: the armour needs gaps at knees and elbows to move, so anyone who knows where to aim can beat him, and when he and Zeke settled an argument over rescuing Annie by fighting, the Beast Titan brutalised him. He is still one of the handful of shifters alive when the Titans vanish.

7. Lara Tybur: the best arsenal, the worst delivery system

The War Hammer Titan's hardening outclasses what the Attack, Beast, Female and Armored Titans manage, and it breaks through theirs. Lara grows spikes out of the ground, builds the hammer the Titan is named for, and improvises a crossbow and a whip mid-fight. On loadout alone she belongs higher. The architecture ruins it: her Titan is a puppet on an umbilical cord of flesh while Lara herself lies encased in crystal some distance away, so destroying the nape achieves nothing. Once Eren traced the cord it was over. His own jaws could not crack the crystal, so he jammed it into the Jaw Titan's mouth and used those jaws as a nutcracker.

8. Annie Leonhart: the most technical shifter on the field

Annie fights like a soldier trained to kill shifters rather than flatten cities. She hardens selectively, knuckles, elbows, knees and shins, so strikes land like sledgehammers while her own joints stay intact, and her hardened skin shattered the Survey Corps' ultrahard steel blades outright. She summons Pure Titans with a scream, which is why a whole expedition could not hold her. Numbers cap her. At Stohess she ran out of outs and sealed herself in crystal to avoid interrogation, which kept her alive and also parked her for four years.

9. Bertholdt Hoover: the biggest number in the series

At roughly sixty metres the Colossal Titan stands about four times the height of a standard shifter, and Bertholdt kicks a hole in Wall Maria's outer gate in 845, then repeats the trick at Trost five years later. The heat is a weapon too, the body venting steam hard enough to cook anyone closing on the nape. Control is what keeps him out of the top five. He is slow, he panics under pressure, and he transforms as a siege engine rather than a fighter. When Armin Arlert inherits the power he treats it as a demolition charge rather than a body to fight in, most spectacularly when one transformation erases Marley's naval fleet.

10. Hange Zoe: the strongest ending any human gets

No Titan, no bloodline, still a place here. Hange turned Titan biology into usable doctrine, which counts as power in a war fought by teenagers on grappling hooks. In the first of the two Final Chapters specials, Hange hands command to Armin, flies alone into the advancing Wall Titans to buy the flying boat its seconds, spends both thunder spears, then switches to blades and keeps cutting as the heat sets the cape alight. Erwin Smith was the better commander and Kenny Ackerman the better killer, but neither closes their story with a solo act that decides whether the war is still winnable.

Why the Ackermans break the scale

Two of the top five are humans from one clan, which is no accident. The Ackermans were engineered as warriors to guard Eldia's king, then hunted close to extinction after refusing to go along with Karl Fritz's ideology. That inheritance is why Mikasa outperforms trained adults as a cadet, and why thunder spears in the right hands are enough to end a shifter. Be precise about the limits, though: Ackermans cannot transform, and the tidy explanation Eren once gave Mikasa about needing a host to awaken was invented. Zeke, who knew more Titan science than anyone alive, had no idea what caused her headaches.

Common misconceptions

There are two characters called Ymir

Ymir Fritz is the first Founding Titan, the woman in the Paths. Ymir of the 104th Cadet Corps is someone else: sixty years as a mindless Titan, then she ate a Warrior, regained her body and held the Jaw Titan. Mixing them up is the commonest error in these arguments.

Bigger does not mean stronger

The Colossal Titan has the largest body and loses on control, while the Cart Titan is among the smallest of the Nine and arguably the most useful, since it can run for days and carry gunners.

The thirteen-year clock never resets

The Curse of Ymir kills a shifter thirteen years after inheriting, and stacking extra Titans buys no extra time. Eren holding three powers gained nothing, which is why the final arc reads as a countdown.

Who just missed the cut

Armin holds the Colossal Titan through the final arc and erases an entire naval fleet with one transformation, but he fights as a strategist rather than a duellist. Erwin was never an elite fighter; his suicide charge at Shiganshina is simply why Levi got a clean run at the Beast Titan. Kenny Ackerman shared Levi's bloodline, traded blows with him in the underground city, and died of his injuries under the wrecked Reiss chapel after handing over the serum that saves Armin. Pieck Finger's Cart Titan outlasts brawlers rather than beating them. Porco Galliard brought Jaw Titan speed after reclaiming his brother Marcel's power. And Gabi Braun is the best shot in the series, which is how Sasha Blouse dies to one rifle round.

The Rumbling itself had already stopped when Levi killed Zeke and broke the royal blood link; Eren's death released Ymir Fritz, and Titan power vanished from the world.

Is the Attack on Titan anime finished?

Yes. The television run totals 94 episodes: Wit Studio made Seasons 1 to 3, MAPPA made the Final Season, and the two Final Chapters specials aired in March and November 2023. Those were combined into the film Attack on Titan: The Last Attack, which reached Japanese cinemas in November 2024 and Crunchyroll in April 2025.
