Delta
from The Eminence in ShadowFan favourite
Delta is the third member of Shadow Garden — the loudest, most chaotic, and arguably most dangerous of the numbered members, a berserker whose raw ferocity makes her the organization's bluntest weapon and its most unpredictable wildcard.
Background
Like the rest of Shadow Garden's core members, Delta was a victim of possession by the cult of Diablos before Shadow freed her and gave her a second life. Where her fellow members channeled their liberation into discipline and precision, Delta channeled hers into appetite — for combat, for food, for competition, for the sheer physicality of being alive and impossibly powerful. She operates as a werewolf-type warrior whose power scales with her emotional intensity, which means that in prolonged combat she often becomes more dangerous as the fight goes on rather than less. Her enthusiasm for battle sometimes makes her a liability in covert operations, but in open confrontation she is one of Shadow Garden's most reliable assets.
Powers & Abilities
| Ability | What it does |
|---|---|
| Werewolf Physiology | Delta's body undergoes partial transformation under combat stress, dramatically increasing speed, strength, and regeneration; she is naturally faster and tougher than most humans even in human form |
| Fang-type Fighting | Close-quarters combat style built around the aggression and striking power of a predator — she typically closes the gap immediately and overwhelms opponents before they can establish range |
| Battle Frenzy | Her combat capability increases progressively during a fight rather than depleting; an opponent who manages to survive Delta's initial assault may face an escalating threat rather than a tiring one |
| Slime Companion | Delta keeps a slime companion she treats with deep affection, a detail that reads as a direct comedic contrast to her otherwise savage combat persona |
Personality
Delta is loud, enthusiastic, competitive, and almost entirely without guile. She loves fighting, eating, and her slime companion, and she expresses all three loves with equal and overwhelming sincerity. She is not unintelligent — she understands Shadow Garden's mission and is loyal to it — but she operates on impulse in a way that makes her simultaneously the most honest and the most difficult to manage of the numbered members. Her rivalry with Alpha is constant, theatrical, and mutually understood to be affectionate underneath the posturing.
Relationships
- Shadow — the master she reveres with absolute loyalty; her devotion is expressed through enthusiasm for combat and an almost childlike desire for his approval rather than any complicated emotional framework
- Alpha — her primary rival within Shadow Garden, someone she measures herself against constantly while remaining fundamentally on the same side
- Beta, Gamma, Epsilon — fellow numbered members who form the operational core of Shadow Garden; Delta is the most disruptive element of an otherwise disciplined group
Role in the Story
Delta functions as The Eminence in Shadow's proof that Shadow Garden contains genuine power rather than purely manufactured capability — when subtlety fails or isn't the point, Delta is the answer. She is also one of the series' most effective comic counterweights to its deadpan protagonist: where Cid's strength comes from calculated detachment, Delta's comes from complete absence of it.
