Background

Kobeni's contract devil is unknown even to her colleagues, a deliberate mystery that the series maintains throughout. She was assigned to a safehouse containment mission early in her career that went catastrophically wrong, and her response — cycling rapidly between panic, recklessness, and sudden explosive capability — defined her character for everything that followed. The gap between her ordinary-day timidity and her peak survival performance is one of Chainsaw Man's most honest jokes about what instinct looks like under genuine mortal pressure.
