Riyou Reaper

Riyou Reaper is an S-class Cleaner in Gachiakuta's Pit — one of the most feared fighters in an environment defined by its capacity to destroy everything that enters it.

Background

The Pit below the floating city is not simply a place where things go to rot. It is an active ecosystem with its own hierarchy, its own communities, and its own rules — and at the top of its combat hierarchy are the Cleaners, fighters who use Regalia (power drawn from discarded objects) to hold back the Filth that would otherwise make the Pit entirely uninhabitable. S-class designation is not an administrative rank but a survival record: it means that Riyou has operated at the Pit's most dangerous levels and continued to function. His Regalia fits his approach — direct, overwhelming, built for ending confrontations rather than managing them. The Pit produces fighters who are effective in the specific way that lethal environments produce effective fighters: by eliminating the ones who aren't. What Riyou's continued existence demonstrates is that his approach is more than adequate. His encounter with Rudo Higan, who arrives in the Pit as a newcomer with genuine power but no Pit experience, serves as a calibration point for the series — it establishes concretely where Rudo stands relative to what the Pit's power structure looks like from above, and the relationship that develops from that encounter is more complicated than the initial positioning would predict.
