Yue
from Arifureta: From Commonplace to World's StrongestPopular character
Yue is a vampire princess who spent three centuries sealed at the bottom of an inescapable dungeon, and when Hajime Nagumo finally reached her, she made the decision to follow him out and never look back — because for the first time in three hundred years, someone had come for her.
Background
Yue — whose full name is Aletia Galtia — was once royalty in the vampire lineage, possessing extraordinary magical talent and the ability to regenerate from nearly any wound. Her immortality made her a threat to those around her who saw her power as dangerous rather than valuable, and she was betrayed and sealed in the lowest level of the Orcus Labyrinth, where she remained for three hundred years without aging, without dying, and essentially without hope. Hajime reached her by accident, the first person ever to complete the labyrinth's descent, and her decision to align with him was immediate and total — not dependency but something she chose with full awareness that she was making a bet on a specific person rather than on rescue generally. She becomes his companion, then his partner, and eventually one of the most formidable fighters in a world defined by power.
Powers & Abilities
| Ability | What it does |
|---|---|
| Regenerative Immortality | Yue heals from nearly any damage and cannot die by conventional means; the sealing that trapped her worked precisely because it denied her the ability to act rather than trying to kill her |
| Magic Aptitude | Her magical capacity is among the highest in Arifureta's world, and the centuries of isolation gave her time to refine what she could do internally; she commands high-tier elemental and composite magic without difficulty |
| Elemental Magic | Fire, ice, lightning and compound forms; Yue's precision and output both exceed what her young appearance suggests — she is three-hundred-plus years old and has had nothing to do but think about magic |
| Blood Sucking | As a vampire, she can consume blood to accelerate her regeneration and boost her magical output; she feeds only from Hajime, which means the ability is also a point of intimacy in their dynamic |
Personality
Quiet, direct, undemonstrative about everything except Hajime, whom she pursues with the same single-mindedness she brings to everything else. She speaks in short sentences, expresses affection through proximity rather than words, and has very little patience for anything that isn't relevant to her or her companion. The centuries of isolation didn't break her so much as compress her — she knows what she values and what she doesn't, and she doesn't perform interest she doesn't have.
Relationships
- Hajime Nagumo — the first person to reach her and the person she chose to anchor her life around after three hundred years of being alone; the depth of her attachment to him is the emotional through-line of the series
- Shea Haulia — the hare-girl who joins them after the labyrinth and eventually occupies the same inner circle; Yue's early resistance to Shea's presence gradually gives way to something that functions, despite everything, like acceptance
Role in the Story
Yue is Arifureta's emotional core — the relationship between her and Hajime is what makes the series more than a power-fantasy litany. Her arc is about choosing rather than being rescued: she was already immortal before Hajime arrived, already capable of enduring. What he gave her was someone worth enduring for, and the series takes that distinction seriously.
