Adam

Adam is humanity's first man in Record of Ragnarok — the fighter who steps into the ring against the Father of the Gods armed with nothing but his fists and an ability that makes him the one human the divine were always secretly afraid of.

Background

He was created by God and lived in paradise until the moment he made a choice that ended that arrangement — a choice the series presents not as failure but as the defining act of human autonomy. He was given eyes that saw everything God saw, and then he was cast out, and the theological weight of that origin is the foundation of what he brings to the Ragnarok tournament. He represents humanity not as its strongest warrior but as its progenitor — the first instance of what humans are, and therefore the distillation of whatever quality it is that makes them worth fighting for. In the arena, he faces Zeus himself, and the fight is one of the series' most emotionally and visually dense matchups: the first man against the ruler of Olympus, both fighting not just to win but to prove something about what they represent.

Personality

He is presented as the ideal man — not morally perfect but physically and spiritually complete in the way a prototype is complete, the thing everything else is derived from. He is calm, warm, and fundamentally unhurried, which stands against Zeus's divine arrogance in interesting contrast. He loves his children — all of humanity — with the specific tenderness of a father who knows what they came from and what they cost, and that love is the motivating emotion behind everything he does in the arena.

Relationships

• Zeus — his opponent in Round 2, and the figure whose divine pride is most directly challenged by the existence of a human who can copy anything a god does; their fight is the series' most direct statement about what humanity is relative to the divine
• Brunhilde — the Valkyrie who organized the tournament and selected Adam as humanity's fighter; her confidence in him is part of her larger argument that humans deserve to survive
