Keisuke Baji

from Tokyo RevengersFan favourite

Keisuke Baji is one of Tokyo Manji Gang's founding members — a reckless, fearless fighter whose apparent betrayal of Toman conceals an act of loyalty so absolute that only his closest friends ever learn the truth.

Background

Baji grew up alongside Mikey and the other founding members of Toman, forming bonds in childhood that shaped every consequential decision he would later make. When the gang was established, he became captain of the First Division. He later appeared to defect to Valhalla — a rival faction led by Kisaki Tetta — alarming everyone who knew him. In reality, he had gone undercover to gather evidence that Kisaki was engineering Toman's corruption from within, a plan he executed entirely alone and told no one about except Chifuyu Matsuno.

Powers & Abilities

AbilityWhat it does
Raw Physical PowerExceptionally strong even by Toman standards; capable of fighting through serious injury without slowing down
Combat InstinctFights with near-total disregard for personal safety, which makes him unpredictable and difficult to contain in a brawl
EnduranceContinues fighting through damage that would incapacitate most opponents; the Bloody Halloween arc demonstrates just how far this extends

Personality

Baji is loud, confrontational, and quick to violence in ways that read as thoughtlessness but often mask deliberate choices. He does not explain himself — not because he cannot, but because explanation would require acknowledging that he cares what people think. He wears loyalty like armour and considers protecting the people he grew up with the only obligation that actually matters.

Relationships

  • Chifuyu Matsuno — the only person he brought into his undercover plan; Chifuyu's grief after the Bloody Halloween arc defines his character arc for the rest of the series
  • Takemichi Hanagaki — the time-traveller whose repeated attempts to save Toman collide directly with Baji's fate
  • Takashi Mitsuya — a fellow founding member and one of the relationships that established Toman's original core

Role in the Story

Baji functions as the series' central argument that sacrifice is only meaningful when it is not performed — he dies protecting Toman without anyone knowing what he was trying to do, and Chifuyu spends the rest of the story carrying that knowledge. His arc during Bloody Halloween is the emotional turning point the rest of Tokyo Revengers orbits around.
