Tio Klarus is a Dragon Clan elder who encountered Hajime Nagumo at full hostility and departed that encounter as his loyal companion — a shift the series plays partly for comedy and partly, in its quieter moments, with genuine earnestness about what genuine strength recognizes in itself.

The Dragon Clan Klarus are among the most powerful beastpeople in their world, and Tio's position within the clan reflects both bloodline and centuries of accumulated capability. She was operating under a condition the series explains during her encounter with Hajime, and the defeat he inflicts — thorough enough to break through whatever controlled her behavior — is also what frees her from it. Her decision to follow him afterward is handled as a character choice rather than merely a consequential event, and the direction it takes includes comedy Tio herself appears to participate in knowingly. She brings to the group age, perspective, and power that contrast with younger members, and her protective instinct toward the party reads as genuine rather than obligatory.
