JUJUTSU KAISEN

If you've been wondering what Jujutsu Kaisen is about, the short answer is a modern dark-fantasy about curses (the malevolent energy born from human fear, grief, and anger) and the sorcerers who exorcise them. It follows Yuji Itadori, an easygoing high-schooler with startling physical strength who swallows a cursed object to protect the people around him and suddenly finds himself sharing his body with a dangerous, centuries-old curse. That single reckless act pulls him into the hidden world of Jujutsu Tech, where students train to fight monsters most people never see. The setup sounds grim, but the series moves with a propulsive, almost gleeful energy that hooks you fast.

What makes it stand out is the execution. Animated by MAPPA and first airing in 2020, the show pairs slick, weighty fight choreography with a genuinely eerie atmosphere: cursed spirits feel unsettling, and the sorcery runs on real rules and real stakes. Much of the early buzz centered on Satoru Gojo, the impossibly powerful, blindfolded teacher whose confidence and charisma made him an instant fan favorite. Yet the writing balances that spectacle with heavier questions about mortality, responsibility, and what it costs to carry other people's burdens. With an AniList score of 84 out of 100, it stands among the most widely praised action series of its era, and it's easy to see why.

So is Jujutsu Kaisen worth watching? If you enjoy supernatural action with sharp animation, quick humor, and characters worth caring about, the answer is a confident yes. The first season runs a tight 24 episodes across the Action, Drama, and Supernatural genres, delivering a complete, satisfying arc without a huge time commitment. Alongside Yuji you'll meet the coolly analytical Megumi Fushiguro and the fierce, unshakable Nobara Kugisaki, a trio whose chemistry anchors the whole show, and if you want to go deeper, our full character guide breaks down the cast. It's an ideal entry point for newcomers to anime and a reliable favorite for longtime fans of shonen battle stories.
